Did you win or buy an iPhone 13? So you just got or bought a new iPhone for the holidays; You transferred everything from your old phone and now you're playing with your brand new toy.

 What do you do first? Obviously, you will check the apps that you have been using on your old iPhone for so long; probably marveling at how quickly they load and how smooth and responsive everything is.

Here are our suggestions for the first six tips you should do before you start using your iPhone 13 or iPhone 13 Pro.

Adjust iPhone 13 Display Settings

Depending on the previous iPhone you may have, you may not have found much use for some of the settings; of screen that could be much more useful on an iPhone 13.

Open Settings > Screen and Brightness and try some of the options there. Dark mode is easier on the eyes in dark light and saves battery life with its OLED display.

If you don't want to be on all the time, press the button Automatic and choose between “Light until sunset” (which changes depending on the time of day) or “Custom Schedule” (which lets you set a custom schedule).

Change the automatic blocking in 30 seconds standard It can also save you a lot of frustration, and this is a good time to tinker with things like text size.

Keep your iPhone safe

iPhones are expensive. And even if you have the money to buy a new one, you want to keep itit in good condition to help its resale or trade-in value, or to make it a better second-hand product in a few years.

It is highly recommended put a case on your iPhone 13. If you don't like cases, look for a super slim one or consider a skin from Dbrand or Slickwraps. It won't add much drop protection, but it will keep your iPhone free from scratches or scratches without adding any bulk or weight.

Also consider a good glass screen protector. Broken screens are the number one problem with phones lost and even with AppleCare+, they are expensive to repair. A good screen protector is almost invisible and will go a long way in preventing your screen from cracking!

One of the iPhone 13's coolest new camera features is the cinematic video mode, a way to record video with automatic racking effects that look like what you see on TV and in movies. You can also go in and change focus points later.

It's a fun trick and isn't exactly suitable for all occasions, but there are times when you'll want to have a video recorded in this mode and no It will be time to learn how it works, so the ideal is to learn it beforehand.

It's fun to experiment, but Apple has a support article that explains how to use it. Find any location with an object up close and in the background (or stage something) and try it out!

Another fantastic feature is macro mode, which lets you take incredibly detailed close-up photos when using an iPhone 13 Pro or iPhone 13 Pro Max. It will work automatically when you get close enough to an object, but you can also get more controls in the settings, accessing Settings > Camera.

How to Set an Emergency Contact and Medical ID on iPhone

You can do this on any iPhone, but many people haven't done it yet and it could save your life one day. So setting up a new iPhone is the perfect time to open the Health app to enter information; important medical identification and set up an emergency contact.

Medical identification information may display information critical medical conditions or allergies on the lock screen; for a first responder, and an emergency contact is someone who can be called in the event of; emergency by pressing and holding the side and volume buttons.

  1. First, open the app Health
  2. Then tap your  profile picture  at the top right corner.
  3. Tap  Medical ID.
  4. Tap To edit at the top right corner.
  5. Enter all critical medical information a first responder needs to know if you are in an accident and an emergency contact you want to reach.

Set Photo Styles on iPhone 13

New to the iPhone 13 are the Photographic styles – ways to customize the processing pipeline; of images to give your photos a slightly different tone that is more to your liking.

However, open the application Camera, enter mode Photograph and swipe up to show the small camera control buttons. Finally select the one that looks like three layers stacked to open the Photo Styles selections.

Meanwhile, swipe left or right between the different styles: standard, rich contrast, vibrant, warm and cool.

In each, you can further adjust the tone and warmth of the image. Once you choose something you like, it will be applied to every photo you take from then on. The differences can sometimes be subtle but important, so take the time to experiment and take test photos!

Read the iPhone manual

Did you know that your iPhone actually has a manual? No, it didn't come in the box... it would never fit there. Apple keeps it online. But it's very useful, with a well-organized guide hyperlinked to your iPhone hardware and iOS 15 online at user's Guide of the iPhone. You'd be surprised at how much useful detail it contains and how much you'll learn just by reading the instructions!
