A broken or problematic camera on a Samsung phone is certainly frustrating, but don't be afraid, it's not the end of the world. If your Samsung camera is failing, the solution may be easier than you think.

Try fixing your front camera with a soft reset

However, when something goes wrong, you can first try to fix camera problems on your own. A normal restart or force restart may be just what your phone needs to get the front camera working again.

So to do this, just press the Power and Volume Down buttons for about ten seconds until the device turns off. When you turn your phone back on, check if the camera is working properly.

Delete your camera app cache

If a normal reset does not resolve your camera issues, you can try deleting your camera cache and saved data.

First open the settings app and tap Applications. Select the camera app and then “Force stop”. Go to the storage menu, tap clear cache, then clear data.

This is a common solution you can do on your own to fix a problematic Samsung camera.

Update the apps on your phone

There might just be a problem with the backend of the camera app. Make sure all your apps are up to date and updated.

You can check if your apps are up to date or need an update by visiting the Google Play store.

Select “My apps and games” to see which apps are up to date and which ones need updating.

After updating all your apps, see if your camera is working normally again.

Boot Your Samsung Phone into Safe Mode

If a third-party app is causing the problem, booting your device into Safe Mode may resolve the issue.

You can do this by turning off your Galaxy and pressing the power button until the Samsung logo appears on the screen.

Then press the Volume Down button and hold until the phone restarts and Safe Mode appears in the bottom left corner of the screen.

If you don't have a problem with your camera in safe mode, a third-party app is your culprit.

To find out which app is responsible for the problem, uninstall your apps one by one until you find out which one is the culprit.

Start with your apps that were installed right before your camera issues arose.

Wipe cache partition

If the previous solutions didn't work for you, try wiping the cache partition. Turn off your device and press the Home, Power, and Volume Up buttons simultaneously until the phone vibrates.

Release the Power button, but continue pressing the other two. After a few seconds, the Android system recovery screen will appear.

Use the Volume Down button to select “Wipe cache partition”. You can now reboot the system to see if your camera is working properly.

Turn off Smart Stay

Another possible culprit could be the Smart Stay feature. You can disable this feature by going to Setting, selecting View, and then disabling Sm88i9art. See if this solves your problem.

Perform a factory reset

Your last option to fix the camera on your Samsung phone is to do a factory reset. This will wipe your phone of all data, so be sure to back up anything you don't want to lose.

To do a factory reset, go to Settings > Backup & reset > Factory data reset > Reset all data. This will bring your phone back to a clean slate.

Finally, if this doesn't solve your phone's problems, you can take it to one of the myPhoneup for expert help and repairs.
