This simple feature works on most Chromium-based desktop browsers, including Chrome and Edge on Windows and Mac.

How to Copy a YouTube Video Frame
It allows you to capture a non-overlapping frame of the source video without the need for additional third-party software.
If you need to record a YouTube video for whatever project you're working on, you can use this feature to help you. Here's how to copy a video frame from a YouTube video.
Whether you need to capture video for notes, a presentation, a website, or a document, capturing the perfect image is easier than ever using the steps below to copy a video frame directly from YouTube.
O Copy video frame The YouTube option provides a higher quality image than previous YouTube screenshot options. The resolution of the photo you will copy is also higher than using a screenshot extension or tool like SnagIt or Windows Snipping Tool. You can get even higher resolution photos by upscaling your YouTube video to 1080p or 4K resolution (when available).
To copy a video frame on YouTube:
- Launch Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge on your computer.
- Go to the YouTube website and play the video you want a clip of.
- Right click the video twice when the desired frame appears and select Copy video frame in the context menu.
- Once you choose the option to copy the video frame, it will be copied to the clipboard. You can then paste the video frame into Word or another application in which you want to use the video.
The feature works the same way in Microsoft Edge (double-right-click on the video), but the appearance of the context menu varies. However, you still click the Copy video frame option to copy it to your clipboard.
Using the Copy Video Frame Option on YouTube
It's also important to note that while pausing the video ensures you get the frame you need, you don't need to pause it to capture a frame. However, if it's a quick scene, you may want to pause it at a specific location – it will be easier to screenshot using this method.
After taking the photo, you can use and edit the image like other photos or images added to documents, notes, or presentations. For example, you can flip the image in Word to adjust its orientation and alignment.
If you don't see the Copy video frame option, make sure to update Google Chrome. To do this quickly, press the three dot menu button in the upper right corner and select Help > About Google Chrome. Chrome will automatically download available updates – restart your browser to complete the update process.
