How to install tvOS 15.1 beta 4 on your Apple TV? Just like with iOS and macOS, Apple makes beta versions of tvOS available for developers to test. But unlike the betas of other systems, installing it on the Apple TV HD (4th generation) or Apple TV 4K is more complicated than a simple download and go. If you're a developer and having trouble installing the tvOS beta, here's what you need to do.
Unlike other Apple operating systems, you cannot back up your Apple TV; as such, Apple offers two options for updating tvOS: over the air, which only updates the system; and via USB-C, which restores the device to factory settings.

Apple occasionally offers updates to iOS, iPadOS, watchOS, tvOS, and macOS as closed developer previews or public betas. While betas contain new features, they also contain pre-release bugs that may prevent normal use of your iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, Apple TV, or Mac, and are not intended for everyday use on a primary device. This is why we recommend staying away from developer previews unless you need them for software development, and using public betas with caution. If you depend on your devices, wait for the final release.

October 13, 2021: Apple releases tvOS 15.1 beta 4 for developers
Apple has just released the fourth beta version of tvOS 15.1 for developers. If you already have a previous tvOS beta installed or followed the instructions below to install the update's beta profile, go to System > Software Updates and download it.

How to install the tvOS beta over-the-air
You can install the tvOS beta configuration profile completely wirelessly, but you'll need a Mac, Apple Configurator, and the latest version of Xcode if you've never done it before.
Remote update only updates system software; Your settings and apps should remain on your Apple TV as-is.
- On your Mac, go to developer.apple.com/ .
- click in Discover .
- click in tvOS .
- click in Download .
- Enter your user name It is password developer to log in.
- Scroll down and click the blue button Download to the right of configuration profile of tvOS 15 beta . Make sure to save the profile to your desktop.
- Install the Apple Configurator app from the Mac App Store.
- Turn on your Apple TV HD or Apple TV 4K AC power .
- Connect your Apple TV HD or Apple TV 4K to the same wireless network as your Mac.
- Open the Xcode on your Mac. Make sure you're running the latest version.
- click in Window in the menu bar.
- click in Devices and Simulators .
- Open it settings on your Apple TV.
- Select Remotes and devices .
- Select Remote apps and devices .
- In Xcode, select the Apple TV when it appears in the left column under Discovered.
- type the code that appears on your Apple TV. Xcode will pair with the Apple TV.
- Open the Apple Configurator on your Mac.
- Click on your Apple TV in Apple Configurator.
- Drag the configuration profile of tvOS 15 from your desktop to the Apple TV icon in Apple Configurator. Apple TV will be configured for the tvOS 15 beta.
Your Apple TV should now detect the new tvOS and download and install it like any other update. Fortunately, if you've already set up your Apple TV this way, you can simply download the profile, open Apple Configurator, and drag the profile onto your Apple TV.
How to install the tvOS beta restore image over USB-C (Apple TV HD 4th generation only)
If you have a 4th generation Apple TV, you can use a USB-C cable to install the restore image.
- On your Mac, go to developer.apple.com/ .
- click in Discover .
- click in tvOS .
- click in Download .
- Enter your user name It is password developer to log in.
- Click on restore image of tvOS 15 for the Apple TVHD .
- click in Applications near the top of the page.
- Click on the blue button Download to the right of Xcode 13 .
- Install the Xcode 13 on your Mac.
- Turn on your Apple TV HD (4th generation) to AC power .
- Connect your Apple TV HD (4th generation) to the Mac using a USB-C cable .
- Open the iTunes .
- Select your Apple TV when she appears on iTunes .
- Hold down the key Option and click Check updates .
- Browse and click on tvOS 15 beta that you downloaded in step 3.
Once iTunes has updated your Apple TV, connect it back to your television and you're done.
