iPhone 13 – News and Rumors – Find out everything on our Blog! The 2021 iPhone 13 models, news and rumors are just days away from being revealed, and as we've been hearing rumors about what to expect from the new devices since before the 2020 iPhone 12 models were released, we have a good idea of what it's coming. Apple has announced an event that will take place on Tuesday, September 14th, so that's when we'll get our first official look at the new iPhone models.

The 2021 iPhone lineup will be similar to the 2020 iPhone lineup, with four devices in sizes including 5.4 inches, 6.1 inches, and 6.7 inches, with two of the iPhones being high-end “Pro” models and two positioned as low-cost and more accessible devices.
No major design changes are expected, and the 2021 iPhones will have the same set of features as the 2020 iPhones, but we can expect camera improvements, a faster A-series processor, a new 5G chip from Qualcomm, longer battery life and an adjustment for the size of the notch.

There have been rumors that at least one iPhone in 2021 would feature a portless design that relies entirely on wireless charging, but that won't happen this year. Apple will continue to trust Lightning in the near future, no transition to USB-C and no portless design until MagSafe accessories are more common. Instead, portless iPhones could start appearing in 2022.
We're expecting a smaller notch on the front of the iPhone, with Apple able to shrink the Face ID hardware. A smaller notch will be the only major visual change to the front of the iPhone. Apple is also expected to introduce 120Hz screen refresh rates for iPhone Pro models, bringing the iPad Pro's ProMotion technology to the iPhone for the first time.
Apple was considering adding an in-display fingerprint sensor to the iPhone 13 models, which would be used alongside Face ID as an alternative method of biometric authentication, but it's a feature that has been tabled or saved for a future update because it doesn't the cutoff for the iPhone 13. The iPhone 13 will rely solely on Face ID.
When it comes to improved camera technology, rumors suggest we could see the larger sensor on the iPhone 12 Pro Max extend to other models, along with the Sensor Shift Stabilization feature for better autofocus and stabilization across the lineup. With the upcoming camera changes, there are some design changes to the camera bumps on the iPhone 13 models. This will be most noticeable on the iPhone 13 Pro, which is getting a much larger Pro Max camera array, and the iPhone 12 and 12 mini will have diagonal camera setups.
There are rumors that there will be improvements to the Ultra Wide lenses on the iPhone 13 “Pro” models in the form of better low-light performance and improved autofocus, but few changes are expected for the devices' Wide lenses. The iPhone 13 and 13 Pro should feature a new diagonal camera lens configuration , different from the design of the iPhone 12 models.

Apple will continue to offer four iPhones in 2021, with no changes to sizes, so we can expect a 5.4-inch iPhone mini, a low-cost 6.1-inch iPhone, a 6.1-inch Pro model, and a 6.1-inch Pro Max. 6.7 inch model. Rumors suggest that the iPhone 12 mini had poor sales, but Apple is still planning an iPhone 13 mini at this time.
The 2021 iPhone models are not expected to feature major design changes, because the 2020 iPhone models marked a significant technology and design overhaul. According to the Bloomberg , Apple engineers consider the 2021 iPhones an “S” version of the 2020 models. In the past, Apple has used the “S” nomenclature in years when iPhone models featured more minor updates.
According to the Japanese website Mac Otakara , the new iPhones will be the same size as the iPhone 12 models, but the thickness should increase by approximately 0.26 mm. The iPhone 13 models are also expected to be a little heavier due to the larger batteries.
The standard iPhone 13 model with dual-lens camera setup could see the lenses arranged diagonally rather than a vertical design. It's not quite clear what the benefit would be, as the device will continue to offer the same Wide and Ultra Wide lenses, but there are some changes in store, such as sensor-shift optical image stabilization for the Wide lens that may require repositioning .
The iPhone 13 Pro models will be 0.2mm thicker, perhaps to facilitate a larger battery, and will have a much larger rear camera, according to render images. The larger camera unit may be needed to accommodate sensor-shift stabilization and appears to be the same size as the iPhone 12 Pro Max's rear camera unit.
The iPhone 13 Pro's larger camera size was demonstrated in images of an iPhone 12 Pro in an iPhone 13 Pro case, which has a noticeably larger camera cutout. The case was designed based on CAD images and leaked specifications of the iPhone 13 models.
The iPhone 13 models may also feature stronger magnets on the inside and a different matte finish on the outside. Rumors suggest that the next iPhones will come in a matte black color option that will replace space gray, along with a new stainless steel coating that reduces smudges and fingerprints.
Apple is also apparently considering a bronze-like orange color, although that may not happen, and a pink tone for the standard iPhone 13 is a possibility. It should be noted that these rumors come from a source that does not have a solid track record to accurately predict Apple's plans.
A rumor suggests that the iPhone 13 and 13 mini will be available in Black, Blue, Purple, Pink, White and PRODUCT (RED), while the iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max will be available in Black, Silver, Gold and Bronze.
Minor Notch
The iPhone 13 is expected to have a smaller notch, and several reliable sources have indicated that the size of the notch will decrease in 2021, including Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo .
The Japanese website Mac Otakara he said that the TrueDepth camera will be shallower because the receiver at the top of the screen is being relocated to the edge of the case. This information originally suggested that the notch would be shallower rather than smaller, but later mockups indicated that it will shrink in width rather than height.
DigiTimes believes the notch on the iPhone 13 models will “shrink” in size, becoming smaller thanks to a redesigned camera module that integrates Rx, Tx and flood illuminator to enable size reduction, as well as smaller VSCEL chips. Barclays analysts similarly explained that a smaller notch on the iPhone 13 models will be the result of a “more integrated version of the current structured light system” for Face ID.
The iPhone 13's Face ID transmitter is said to be made from a plastic material rather than glass, made possible by improved coating technologies, but it's unclear whether this will have benefits for the end user or whether it will simply mean a reduction in production cost for Apple.
The smaller notch can be seen in leaked display panels supposedly for the upcoming iPhone 13 models. In these images, the panels have smaller notches because the headphone speaker has been moved to the top bezel.
In April, the Mac Otakara shared images of a 3D-printed mockup of the iPhone 13, showing a smaller notch, the front camera moved to the left, and a repositioned headphone jack. Compared to the iPhone 12 Pro, the mockup suggests the iPhone 13 Pro will feature a notch that is 5.35mm tall, as opposed to 5.30mm, and 26.80mm wide, down from 34.83mm .
Similar images have emerged from the leak known as “DuanRui”, also showing the smaller notch and repositioned headphone jack.

Release date of
Apple is holding a “California Streaming” event on Tuesday, September 14th, where we expect to see the iPhone 13 and Apple Watch Series 7 models.
The event, which is virtual once again, will begin at 10 a.m. PT and will be streamed live by Apple on Apple TV, Apple's website, and YouTube.
After being revealed on the 14th, Apple could start taking orders on the 17th and the new models could perhaps have an official launch on the 24th, but we won't know the exact launch date until September 14th.
Pricing
DigiTimes claims that Apple will raise prices on upcoming iPhone 13 models to offset TSMC's rising chip production costs, but this has not yet been confirmed and other sources have said that is not the case.
After 2021
The iPhone 13 models will be succeeded by the iPhone 14, and we've already heard rumors about the 2022 devices. Apple is expected to do away with the notch on at least some models, adopting a punch-hole front camera and under-display Face ID.
