You're going to send it from your iPhone, but you realize you don't know how to change the file name. What to do? Look for a nearby computer to do this?
No! You can easily rename files on iOS before sending them to someone. And the native application that does this is called FILES. 🙂
The trick is to save the photo in Files and change the name accordingly. See the step by step:
- First open the Photos app and select the image you want to change the name.
- Then tap the “Save to Files“, in the bottom menu. Choose a folder to to record the image there.
- Afterwards, open the FILES application and look for the image you just saved.
- In the same way, tap on the image. A contextual menu will appear, with the option “Rename“. Tap this option.
- However, at this point, you can rename the image to whatever name you want. Do not put the extension, which will remain the same as the original file.
- Finally, now just send it by email, message or save it back to the Photo Album, which when attached to a message will keep the new name.
In fact, the tip also works if, instead of using the Files app, you use any cloud service, such as Dropbox or Google Drive: just send the photo there and rename the file.
But it's not necessary, you can do all this on iOS, without having to send the file to third-party servers.
