However The reports come from sources who said Games developer that developers working on games with a wholesale cost of US$ 34 or more will now need to offer a free trial.
Sources say the tests will need to be at least two hours long. There was no mention of a maximum value for the test, so it may vary by game.
The requirements shared in this latest leak also don't seem to point to any kind of retroactive boost.
And, based Games developer report, it will also not apply to PlayStation VR titles.
Sony is being flexible with the policy, however. Sources noted that developers will have up to three months after the game launches on the PlayStation Store to release the test.
Trials also only need to be available to PlayStation Plus Premium users for 12 months.
Sony is also open to custom game demo releases. However, sources say it will be; approved on a case-by-case basis.
If this PlayStation Plus Premium leak is; true, we could see a lot more timed trials available on PlayStation once the new service is; released.
Growing Developer Concerns
In fact, one of the reasons the PS Plus Premium leak news is a little worrying is because it could create more work for developers.
Instead of just releasing the game on the platform, they can also create a two-hour trial for it.
While this will probably only include a snippet of the game, it probably requires some custom bits to time the experience.
This concern may be unnecessary, however. In another PlayStation Plus Premium leak, Kotaku's Ethan Gach, says sources said Sony itself will do the testing.
PlayStation Plus Premium leak reveals more about testing
The tests are; one of the main perks Sony is adding to its PlayStation Plus Premium tier when it launches later this year. This could open the door for PlayStation gamers to check out various games before purchasing them.
In fact, it's almost a throwback to the days of yore. Back then, game demos were an almost constant thing in the video game world.
Of course, there is also concern that the tests could decrease sales.
Ultimately, the change will be good for consumers. However, this may lead developers to look for other ways to increase monetization in their games.
